Short answer
Gorilgo asks for no name, no age, no e-mail, no address and no account. You never sign up and you never log in.
When you play online, the game connects to our match server so you can play against other people. What travels is only what the match needs: your in-game nickname, your position while you move, and your shots. There is no chat in the game.
What is stored on your device
The game saves your progress using your browser's own storage (localStorage, IndexedDB and one cookie — all three, because some browsers block one of them):
- your level and experience
- your coins
- the weapon skins you own and the one you have equipped
- how far along your daily reward streak is
- your sound and graphics preferences
- a random id that identifies your save — see below
What is sent when you play online
Pressing PLAY tries to join an online match on our server. If the server cannot be reached, or your connection is too slow, the game switches to a match against bots and nothing is sent at all.
In an online match the game sends:
- your nickname — shown to the other players in the match, exactly as it is shown to you
- your position and facing while you move, and your shots — this is what makes multiplayer work
- the random save id described above, so your kills and wins are added to the right leaderboard row
That id is a random number generated in your browser. It is not linked to your name, your device, any account or anything about you, and it is never used for advertising.
What our server keeps
For the leaderboard, our server stores one row per save id: nickname, kills, deaths, wins, losses and experience. Nothing else is kept — no browsing history, no message history, no personal data.
Deleting your data
The in-game SETTINGS → DELETE ALL MY DATA button clears all three storage layers on your device at once. Clearing your browser's site data does the same. Deleted progress cannot be restored.
Your leaderboard row is keyed by the random save id. Once you delete your local data a new id is generated, and the old row is no longer connected to you or to anything you play afterwards. To have the old row removed as well, get in touch through the page where the game is published and tell us the nickname you used.
Chat
The game has no chat. There is no way to send a message to another player and no way to receive one.
Advertising
On game portals the game shows ads. Those ads are served by that portal's own ad system (for example Lagged), not by us. Their privacy policy applies and can be found on the site where you are playing. We send the ad provider no information about you.
Some rewards can be unlocked by watching a video. The game always asks first and shows what you will get; nothing plays until you choose it, and skipping the video simply means no reward. On our own site there are no ads at all.
Portal accounts
If you are signed in to the portal you are playing on, the game may read the display name of that account so other players see the name you already use there, and may submit your match score to that portal's own leaderboard. That is handled by the portal under its own privacy policy. If you are not signed in, neither happens.
Children
The game is designed to be suitable for children. It requires no account, has no chat, collects no personal data and has no real-money purchases.
